Four Ways to Be an Authentic Woman

Glean from these empowering intentions as you grow in your faith.

Trust God – Do Not Fear

When I first realized the gravity of the pandemic, I have to admit I was fearful. I was not sure what information to believe, and things seemed out of control. As a woman of faith, I knew God was in control, but it seemed like everything was out of control. How could I protect myself, my family, and my friends? It did not take me long to grasp I was not in control. God’s word is clear in both Matthew 6:25-34 and Philippians 4:6 ESV, “Do not worry” and “Don’t be anxious”. Then in Psalms 27:1 ESV, “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?” God’s word always has an answer for our concerns.

Accept it is a Season of Change

In God’s word, we find many examples of seasons of life (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV). I think sometimes we forget that life is like the seasons. Seasons bring change and we embrace each season. COVID-19 was a season of change and it challenged us to be flexible, resilient, resourceful,  and to expect the unexpected. So we should not let change in our circumstances cause our faith to waver. Instead, we need to have faith in God and remember that He has good plans for us. Learn to adapt to a new standard. Remember, God is with us in every season of our lives.

Be Mindful

I have to admit, there were times when I got so caught up in the COVID 19 news and being quarantined that I forgot to be mindful and aware of what I was taking myself through. Everything was going through my head and my body was feeling stressed. Mindfulness helped me bring awareness to what I was feeling, and it caused me to have no judgment.  Instead I resorted to, “It is what it is.” I've learned to take time to slow down, breathe, and relax. I talk to God and express what I feel or experience in my mind and body. During Covid 19, I was stressed, I was tired, I was sad, I was feeling alone, the list could go on and on….yet I exhaled and meditated on His word (I focused on scripture). In my mindfulness, I look for the positive, I don’t dwell on the negative, and I bring to mind God’s word. “I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways (Psalms 119:15 ESV).

Express Gratitude

If you reflect on your life, I am sure you have something you are grateful for. How many times have you told someone what you were grateful during COVID-19? During the pandemic season, I came to the realization that I was grateful for God’s love, His mercy and grace, His protection, His love, His peace, His joy, His Son dying on the cross, His forgiveness, His power, His patience, His wisdom, His healing, His compassion, and more. While it’s easy to be focused on problems, take some time as an authentic woman of God to express your gratitude.

I hope these four empowering intentions give you strength on your journey as an Authentic Woman

Blessings,
